The word advent comes from the Latin word adventus, which means “coming”. As Christians, during the advent season we prepare ourselves as we anticipate the coming of Christ, in celebration of his birth.
The verses begin with our need for a Savior, and move through the prophecies of the coming Messiah, his arrival, and what that means to us now.
